What to see and do in Carnlough

Sea Angling

Sea Angling enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice with a variety of excellent shore locations scoured clean by the waves of winter storms. Alternatively you could hire a boat and fish for cod, lithe, glacian and pollock out on the bay.

Gig Rowing

Four oared gig racing has been a popular pastime in Carnlough for many years. Up until recently craft for this rare sport were the product of local boat builders and during the summer evenings the crews can frequently be seen training out on the bay. One of the highlights in the gig racing calendar is the Annual Regatta which takes place in May and attracts crews from all over the country to take part in the Round the Rock Challenge.

Hill Walking

Hill walkers and ramblers will find a wealth of opportunity for scenic walks in the hinterland of Carnlough. The Antrim Plateau boasts a string of attractive lakes nestling on its heights. Loughascraban, Loughisland, Loughfad, Loughfine, Loughnabrick, Loughnatrosk, Cranny Lough, Loughnatullig and Loughnacally are bordered by the Ulster Way as it leads to Glenariff.

Fresh Water Angling

Carnlough Angling Club have the rights of the lakes and have been in existence for over 50 years. Day tickets for fishing in the lakes can be obtained from the Londondrry Arms Hotel.
