Sea
Angling enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice
with a variety of excellent shore locations
scoured clean by the waves of winter storms.
Alternatively you could hire a boat and
fish for cod, lithe, glacian and pollock
out on the bay.
Gig Rowing
Four
oared gig racing has been a popular pastime
in Carnlough for many years. Up until recently
craft for this rare sport were the product
of local boat builders and during the summer
evenings the crews can frequently be seen
training out on the bay. One of the highlights
in the gig racing calendar is the Annual
Regatta which takes place in May and attracts
crews from all over the country to take
part in the Round the Rock Challenge.
Hill Walking
Hill
walkers and ramblers will find a wealth
of opportunity for scenic walks in the hinterland
of Carnlough. The Antrim Plateau boasts
a string of attractive lakes nestling on
its heights. Loughascraban, Loughisland,
Loughfad, Loughfine, Loughnabrick, Loughnatrosk,
Cranny Lough, Loughnatullig and Loughnacally
are bordered by the Ulster Way as it leads
to Glenariff.
Fresh Water Angling
Carnlough Angling Club
have the rights of the lakes and have been
in existence for over 50 years. Day tickets
for fishing in the lakes can be obtained
from the Londondrry Arms Hotel.
