Walking Tours of Rathlin

Please note the walking tours and bus tours are ran by separate people, make sure you contact the right person.

If you are thinking of walking on your trip to Rathlin or if the queue for the bus is just a little too long, why not join an experienced guide for a pleasant walk? No rush, no fuss - just some friendly help to understand the wildlife, the history and the way of life on Northern Ireland’s only inhabited island.

A selection of walks is available, ranging in duration and distance. The shortest option is around the central area of the island. Lasting about an hour, there is time to hear about some of the buildings and sites along the way. Or what about a visit to the nature trails at Ballyconaghan? This would involve one and a half to two hours, including time on pasture/heathland tracks. Another possibility is a walk to Rue Point where, in season, breeding ducks and gulls may be viewed together with the resident seals. Other routes are also available: just ask!

Depending on your timetable, you will probably be able to fit in a visit to the RSPB viewpoint at the West Light or to the Boathouse Visitors’ Centre: both are highly-recommended!

Walks are designed around the needs of groups of 10-40 persons, although it may be possible to cater for smaller numbers. Advance booking is essential. Participants are responsible for their own safety. CALMAC ferries can probably offer concessionary group travel rates. Travel on the ferry is free to holders of Translink Senior Citizen Smartpass.
