Glenarm is noted for its Salmon Farming. The salmon hatchery is on Glenarm River deep within the Castle Estate and the smolt are transferred by helicopter to pens in Glenarm Bay.  Fresh and smoked salmon can be purchased in Glenarm and in Harrods. 

Glenarm Bay, the Harbour and Pier attract many fishermen daily and nightly.  While locals set lobster pots, cod, plaice and mackerel can be fished.  A recently formed Angling Club has been granted permission to fish a stretch of Glenarm River within the Castle grounds, where trout and salmon abound.  Visitors to Glenarm may purchase a permit at the Castle Offices to fish that stretch of river (Cherry Robinson - 01574 841203).  The cost of a Rod Season Licence is £18.85.  A daily ticket is available if on holiday for £40.00 plus vat from Paul Johnston - 01574 841134/841603.
