What to
do in Glenariff
In Glenariff you can
relax, enjoy the scenery, and soak up the
atmosphere. If you and your family feel
the need to be more active try walking,
cycling, pitch and putt, swimming, fishing,
water sports, pony riding, bird watching
or you can take one of the well-signposted
scenic drives.
Walks
For keen walkers, a section
off the Ulster Way begins in Waterfoot,
continues along the river and crosses the
Garron Plateau to Carnlough (10 Km). The
Moyle Way begins in Glenariff Forest Park
and crosses the mountains to Ballycastle
(25 Km). The river section and quiet scenic
Glassmullan Road provide a walk around the
Glen.
Many other scenic walks
of different lengths can be found using
the network of quiet country roads in the
Glen.
Glenariff Forest Park
Glenariff Forest Park
covers an area of 1185 hectares. Of which
about 250 hectares. Have been left open
for recreation, landscaping and conservation.
In the park are two small rivers containing
spectacular waterfalls, tranquil pools and
stretches of fast flowing water tumbling
through rocky gorges. There is a café,
toilets and exhibition centre. Four way-marked
trails of varying length (1-9 Km) wind through
the forest leading you into some of the
Parks most beautiful wooden areas.
One follows the Glenariff River with its
famous waterfalls and passes through the
National Nature Reserve.

Hurling
You can watch a match
in Glenariff Hurling Pitch on most Sundays
in summer with a junior match or training
on many evenings. Two teams of 15 compete
using wooden hurls about a metre long and
a small hard leather ball. The local Glenariff
team is called the Ossians. The ladies
game is camogie.
Beach
Glenariff has one of
the finest sandy beaches in the area with
car parking, picnic tables and a childrens
play park - all you need for a relaxing
day out!
