Lisnamurrican Young Farmers’ Club

Lisnamurrican Young Farmers Club currently has about 53 members, both male and female, aged between 15 and 30 years. The fortnightly meetings have always been held in St Patrick's Church Hall on Monday evenings at 8.30 pm.

Many activities and outings are arranged throughout the year, eg cookery, talks, games night, visits to the Motor Show, Funderland and dry-slope skiing. Club members take part in competitions and other activities organised by the Young Farmers Clubs of Ulster Headquarters - public speaking, crafts, floral art, stock judging, music and drama. It is hoped to use the Community Centre in future to practise for some of these competitions.

Members organise an annual Church Service, Parents and Friends concert and a Dinner Dance. Usually a day trip is organised as well as a sports night, a scavenger hunt and a barbecue. In addition, several discos are held throughout the year.

During the summer months various sports nights are held by different Young Farmers Clubs at which members compete in five-a-side football, tug of war and "It's a Knockout". It is not necessary to be a farmer in order to join the Young Farmers Club.
