Broughshane and
District Senior Citizens Club
The
Senior Citizens Club has about 70 members
who come from Broughshane village and the
surrounding area. The club meets in the
Community Centre on the first and third
Tuesday of the month, from 7.30 pm to 10.00
pm, from October to mid-June. There is no
membership fee, only £1.50 to be paid
each evening for tea and raffle.
The
club is run by a committee of volunteers
who organise a varied programme for the
year. Each evening there is something different
- musical entertainment, Irish dancers,
local bands, who entertain the members.
The
members are invited to the Clough Rangers
Club on St. Patrick's night for supper and
entertainment. A Christmas dinner
is organised each year in Ballymena Golf
Club and a bus tour with lunch every year
to Portstewart. A second outing is
also arranged for lunch and tea in August.
The
Club runs 2 fund raising events - in November
a variety concert and in February, a sale
of work, which club members help to organise.
The proceeds from these events go to pay
for the club's expenses throughout the year,
particularly the dinner and the outings.
Old
and new members are all welcome to join
in October
